The backdrop in Dexter: New Blood has shifted from Miami in the original series, to a small town – Iron Lake, New York. The events of Dexter: New Blood take place ten years after the events of the finale eight years ago, when Dexter disappeared in the eye of Hurricane Laura. In Dexter: New Blood, Dexter Morgan is living under an assumed name in Iron Lake, but the serial killer in him seems to be back to his old ways.
Joining Hall in Dexter: New Blood is returning original Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter as Dexter’s sister Deb in a new iteration. Jack Alcott stars as Dexter’s teenage son Harrison, who mysteriously returns to Dexter’s life after 10 years apart. Veteran character actor Clancy Brown will play the revival’s primary antagonist Kurt Caldwell, the unofficial mayor of Iron Lake. The cast also includes Goliath‘s Julia Jones as Angela Bishop, Iron Lake’s first Indigenous Chief of Police, Alano Miller as an Iron Lake PD sergeant, Johnny Sequoyah as Bishop’s teenage daughter, and Jamie Chung as a famous true-crime podcaster from Los Angeles who finds herself caught up in the central mystery. John Lithgow is back as Arthur Mitchell, albeit in a cameo. Original Dexter showrunner Clyde Phillips is also back as showrunner of the new series.
