The first season of Showtime’s premium television series ‘Dexter’ starring Michael C. Hall in the titular role debuted way back in July 2007 while the much-criticized eighth season concluded in the year 2013. And now, Dexter’s new season titled ‘Dexter: New Blood’, which was being touted as the show’s revival season, is streaming six out of ten weekly episodes on the Voot OTT platform.
A piece of exciting news for Dexter fans is that the show seems to have found its groove again and, at least until now, has revived its lost glory that it had achieved in its highest-rated fourth season. The show is getting better with each episode. Moreover, ‘Dexter: New Blood’ has also made its way to the coveted IMDb top 250 TV shows list. It is ahead of even Kate Winslet’s highly acclaimed miniseries ‘Mare of Easttown’, Michael Keaton’s drama ‘Dopesick’, and India’s own brilliant web series ‘Aspirants’.
Currently, ‘Dexter: New Blood’ is rated an impressive 8.9/10 on its IMDb homepage. For shows released in 2021, only three titles are currently ahead of ‘Dexter: New Blood’ on the said IMDb list. They are Peter Jackson’s miniseries ‘The Beatles: Get Back’, animated series ‘Arcane’, and ‘Clarkson’s Farm’.
Created by previous showrunner Clyde Phillips (Seasons 1-4), ‘Dexter: New Blood’ is set a decade after the events of the eighth season finale when he had faked his own death. The vigilante serial killer has now assumed a new identity in the far-off small town of Iron Lake, New York. The season’s plot also delves into his awkward relationship with his long-lost son Harrison while dealing with his own dark passenger.
