Dhanush’s ‘Vaathi’ Gets A New Release Date In Theatres

Tamil star Dhanush’s much talked about film ‘Vaathi’ has been the subject of numerous speculations in the past few weeks. Some said ‘Vaathi’ aka ‘Sir’ is skipping theatres and planning to release directly on OTT; while others wondered if the Tamil and Telugu bilingual film would be able to keep its original 2nd December date at the theatres. For those who don’t know, Dhanush’s upcoming film is shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, for a bilingual film titled Vaathi’ in Tamil, and ‘Sir’ in Telugu.

Well, now all speculation has been laid to rest. Sithara Entertainment, the production house behind ‘Vaathi’ have just revealed that the Dhanush film will not release in December 2022 after all. They’ve also announced a new release date in the theatres for the film. ‘Vaathi’ or ‘Sir’ will now release in theatres on February 17, 2023.

Vaathi‘ / ‘Sir’ is directed by noted director, Venky Atluri. The film is described as a period coming-of-age action drama. The film stars Dhanush in the lead role, alongside Samyuktha Menon. P. Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Samuthirakani, Hyper Aadi, Aadukalam Naren, Ilavarasu, among others, make up the rest of the cast. G. V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music of ‘Vaathi’ / ‘Sir’.

Vaathi comes on the back of a fantastic year for Dhanush. His Thiruchitrambalam, Naane Varuvean and The Gray Man kept Dhanush in the news throughout the year, along with each being a successful outing for the unassuming actor. This will be the first Telugu film for Dhanush.
