Dharma Productions’ film based on the Jallianwala Bagh incident has finally got its title and also a new release date. The film will be called ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ and is postponed to 18th April, 2025 in contrast to the previously announced 14th March, 2025.
‘Kesari Chapter 2’ is a courtroom drama inspired from real life events and adapted from the book “The Case That Shook The Empire” by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. It follows the story of one of India’s too barrister C. Sankaran Nair who fought an unprecedented battle against the British Empire which tried to cover-up a massacre.
‘Kesari Chapter 2’ is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi (‘Bandish Bandits’, ‘Kaalkoot’) and stars Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday in the lead roles. The film is jointly produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective and Cape of Good Films.
With ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ getting postponed, the fate of ‘Jolly LLB3’ (starring Akshay Kumar) and ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ (produced by Dharma) hangs in balance. The former was slated for release on 10th April, 2025 and the latter on 18th April, 2025. They are most likely to be shifted to other dates to make space for ‘Kesari Chapter 2’.
Moreover, we have a web series titled ‘The Waking Of A Nation’ coming to SonyLIV on 7th March, 2025 which is also based on the similar story. It will be interesting to see whether and how it affects ‘Kesari 2’ since the film is coming on a later date and the audience will already get to know the plot line.
