We at Binged had informed our readers that veteran superstar Dharmendra is returning to our screens very soon. His comeback project will be ZEE5’s ambitious historical show ‘Taj: Divided By Blood’, which was revealed recently by the platform. Dharmendra is playing the small but significant role of Sufi saint Sheikh Salim Chishti in the series.
This morning, Dharmendra Paaji took to his Twitter handle to share his first look from ‘Taj: Divided By Blood’. The actor is almost unrecognisable in his getup as Sheikh Salim Chishti. Along with posting the two pictures of his first look as Sheikh Salim Chishti, Dharmendra seeked the blessings of his fans and well-wishers for his comeback project.
Have a look at the pictures and post tweeted by Dharmendra –
As per Mughal history, the Sufi saint was very dear to Emperor Akbar, who even named his first son Salim, in honour of the saint. Dharmendra’s role as Sheikh Salim Chishti will be a short one, but definitely a powerful role.
‘Taj: Divided By Blood’ is produced by Contiloe Digital, along with William Borthwick as the showrunner, Simon Fantauzzo as the writer and Ronald Scalpello as the director. The series stars Naseeruddin Shah as King Akbar, Aditi Rao Hydari as Anarkali, Aashim Gulati as Prince Salim, Taha Shah as Prince Murad, Shubham Kumar Mehra as Prince Daniyal, Sandhya Mridul as Queen Jodha Bai, Zareena Wahab as Queen Salima, Sauraseni Maitra as Mehr un Nisa, Rahul Bose as Mirza Hakim and Dharmendra as Sheikh Salim Christi.
Also part of series are actors Subodh Bhave, Aayam Mehta, Deepraj Rana, Shivani Tanksale, Padma Damodharan, Pankaj Saraswat, Digambar Prasad and Zachary Coffin in supporting roles.
‘Taj: Divided By Blood’ will recount the chequered history of the Mughals in India, starting from Akbar — but from the perspective of the backstabbing, bloodshed and infighting that plagued the dynasty. It will be a story of love, beauty, passion for the arts, but also of betrayal, bloodshed, murder and mayhem.
