Did Netflix India Ignore Promoting Oscar-Nominated Docu?

We at Binged have always and always promoted documentaries on OTT. It is quite an evident fact that no platform has contributed as much as Netflix India for documentaries. Stuff like “Curry and Cyanide”, “The Hunt for Veerappan” etc brought down chills in the spine of the audiences due to their horrifying content and presentation

Needless to say, they received really good views from the audience. In fact, the credit for making documentaries mainstream OTT content goes to Netflix India alone.

But, they just started streaming an Oscar-nominated documentary called “To Kill A Tiger”. The documentary by Richie Mehta talks about the struggle of a father to get justice for his daughter who has been raped.

The show is executive produced by people like Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Mindy Kaling, and Dev Patel.

However, it failed to do good on Netflix India. According to the views that we have received, it got only 1,100K views which is simply not enough. What’s even sadder is that the film failed to emerge in the Top 10. Imagine an Indian story and people in India are oblivious about it.

So, it is indeed a sad part that Netflix India did not promote this documentary well. Had they did, the issue of fewer views would not have arrived.
