WWE’s Visionary and Revolutionary superstar, Seth “Freakin’” Rollins, has opened up about his role in Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World, which stars Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Shira Haas, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, and Tim Blake Nelson. If you’re a diehard WWE fan who loves watching Rollins every week, prepare to be curb-stomped — the Monday Night Messiah won’t appear in the upcoming MCU project.
In a recent appearance on the INSIGHT podcast with Chris Van Vliet, Rollins was asked about the status of his role in Brave New World. He gave a shocking update, revealing that he is no longer part of the movie.
“It [Captain America 4] releases in February, I wish it the best but…I am not a part of that film. Truth be told, any answer I gave would only be my opinion on it. The script went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots so what I was there to do, essentially my role got either repurposed or completely erased.”
Here’s the entire podcast!
It is disheartening to see that Rollins’ role has been removed. Wait… wait a minute! Is he speaking the truth? Or is he pulling the same tricks Andrew Garfield did back when Spider-Man: No Way Home was about to hit theatres? Garfield fought tooth and nail with anyone who asked him whether he was in the movie, constantly denying his appearance until the film’s worldwide release. Well, as expected (or perhaps out of Kevin Feige’s fear), Garfield stuck to his denials right up until the reveal.
Should we believe Seth Rollins? We’ll have to wait until February 14 to find out whether he lied or actually told Van Vliet the truth.
This isn’t the first time Marvel has disappointed Rollins’ family. His wife, Becky Lynch, also had a planned cameo in Eternals cut. Apparently, a post-credits scene featuring her was removed because it was deemed too gloomy for viewers. Credit to her, though, as she is now a globally prominent and well-established WWE superstar and is slowly exploring the world of acting. She is set to appear in several major projects, including Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Moreover, she has secured a role in Happy Gilmore 2, led by Adam Sandler.
Not only might we see Seth Rollins in Captain America: Brave New World, but we could also witness him taking on more large-scale Hollywood projects in the future. Stay tuned for more updates!
