Did ‘The G.O.A.T’ Perform Well in Its First-Day Shows in Kerala?

Did the 'G.O.A.T' perform Its Great In Its Kerala’s First-Day Shows?

The most anticipated flick of the month, or the year it could say, Thalapathy Vijay starrer ‘Greatest Of All The Time’ or the ‘G.O.A.T’ was released yesterday. As per the credible sources, the record number of screens in presenting the movie was about seven hundred plus (700+) which is comparatively a whooping figure when observing the actor’s previous theatre filmography. As usual, there was a special fan show in some selected theatres at 04:00 in the morning hours. The pre-booking history of tickets seemed to be impressive and a notable commercial success like any other Thalapathy movie may be expected.

However, the reactions, responses, and reviews from trusted sources suggest the flick to be a below-average to mixed kind, where the hype of expectation didn’t become satiable and a dull situation, unlike previous Thalapathy movies. The same circumstance happened during the first day of a movie called ‘Puli’ (2015) which had the audience’s hope due to the ensemble cast of actors, and the scale. This couldn’t even pull on the fans and hopes of this movie to get wide seem to be shattered.

As per the credible reviews, the movie had a good storyline but the loose screenplay and average construction made it not engaging to watch the effort. Actor Vijay’s charisma and screen presence is not up to the mark for this one. The various movie references could only connect with the fans and regional audiences which lacked interest. This was not expected with a director like Venkat Prabhu who has made brilliant feats like ‘Maanadu’ and ‘Mankaatha’ which blew even the novel audience’s mind.

The cameos were put in unnecessary areas and had a weak plot throughout the film. The much-expected areas like music by Yuvan Shankar Raja were below-average and unbearable. No significant performances from other actors and no emotions were represented anywhere. Moreover, it is said to be an out-and-out actor Vijay fans’ cinema.

Regarding the Kerala audiences, even though there is an avid fan-following present for the actor, the content does matter. Previously released similar movies like recently ‘Varisu’ and ‘Beast’ were washed out within its week of release. This movie is also expected to be the same. Even then, the initial satellite gross value can make the flick a commercial success.
