Will it be a sacrifice for something greater and bigger, or just a fruitless one? Only time will tell. But as of now, CW managed to put an end to it, ending the beloved show. Now, you might assume it wasn’t gaining many views? That’s actually further from the truth.
Superman & Lois is one of the most successful CW and DC shows ever. Drawing around 820k viewers, the third season of the show did manage to gain some major attention. The quality of the show was never questioned; it was definitely a slow burner.
But why did it really end?
The question is really simple: because of the Warner Bros influence.
Though the show was doing strong, the decision came from the authority of Warner Bros. Brad Schwartz, the CW’s president of entertainment, stated, “They don’t want a competing Superman product in the marketplace.”
The final season of Superman & Lois is set to stream during the fall of 2024, one last season before it rests in peace. Now, in that old DC, it wasn’t really a problem, but there were some equations which played a big part in the downfall.
For instance, Ezra Miller’s Flash was constantly compared with Grant Gustin’s version and got major backlash because of personal actions as well.
Will it benefit WB? Probably not. Cavill was already the fans’ Superman, and that will definitely have an effect. But, the way DC and Gunn along with Peter Safran are moving, the future looks really promising.
