Kurup is an immensely successful film that not only ruled in theatres but on Netflix as well. Dulquer Salmaan was greatly praised for his performance and so was the overall film.
It is however interesting to note that Kurup is a Malayalam film. There are a lot of cinephiles who watch a movie in its original language no matter if they understand it or not. Because watching in the original language with subtitles is always better than some dubbed versions.
But this is a subjective personal choice and we can’t deduce anything from that. However, it is highly unlikely that someone would watch a dubbed version even if they understand the original language of the film.
If you see below the chart from the official source of Top 10 Netflix, then you would notice something unexpected.
Kurup in Hindi is gaining even bigger success than that in the Malayalam version. There must be a lot of Hindi speakers who would watch the original Malayalam audio, but not more than a handful of Malayalam speakers who would do otherwise.
Thus it is quite evident that Kurup is an even bigger success in Hindi than it is in the original version. It further establishes the power of Malayalam cinema that is strengthening itself beyond any language boundary.
