We at Binged had earlier informed our readers that acclaimed filmmaker Homi Adajania is working on a web series as his next project after the well-received ‘Angrezi Medium’. Well, now we’ve got a further bit of interesting news to share with you regarding Homi Adajania’s debut web series. As per reports in the media, the filmmaker has managed to rope in the classy, elegant Dimple Kapadia for a pivotal role in the web series. Talk about cracking a casting coup!
That is not all. The tentative title of the web series is ‘Saas Bahu Aur Cocaine’. The series is about a bunch of feisty women who run a drug cartel from their backyard, even as the men of their family live and work out of town. The story is set in the backdrop of a sleepy rural area – a place one would hardly associate with a flourishing cocaine trade.
If our guess is right, Dimple Kapadia might very well land up playing a badass role in Homi Adajania’s web series – the female version of Walter White, maybe? A meek, unassuming person who becomes the head of a drug cartel – and a female at that – sounds interesting!
There have been several shows that show men running a successful drug business. But women? The only series we can think of that comes close to ‘Saas Bahu Aur Cocaine’ in premise is the Israeli series ‘Queens’, which, by the way, is being remade in the USA by a prominent production house.
The shooting of ‘Saas Bahu Aur Cocaine’ is already underway in Jaipur. It is supposedly a black comedy, with a stellar cast already in place. Naseeruddin Shah, Isha Talvar, Varun Mitra, Angira Dhar are some of the stars, among others, that are on board the series. The bold, funny and gritty series has been commissioned by Disney Plus Hotstar, under its Hotstar Specials category.
For the uninformed, Homi Adajania is the man behind films such as Cocktail, Finding Fanny, Being Cyrus, Angrezi Medium among others. ‘Saas Bahu Aur Cocaine’ will mark his debut in the OTT space in India.
