Director Teases Part 3 As Dune 2 Gets Delayed!

In a first major blow to the film studios, the strike caused Dune 2 to be pushed to March 2024.

Director Denis Villeneuve is eager to continue exploring the expansive world of Arrakis even after the release of “Dune: Part Two.” In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Villeneuve expressed his aspiration to complete a trilogy, stating, “If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream.”

Regarding the progress of “Dune: Part Three,” Villeneuve tantalizingly hinted, “I will say, there are words on paper.”

The potential third installment, tentatively titled “Dune: Part Three,” would draw inspiration from “Dune Messiah,” the direct sequel to Frank Herbert’s original 1965 novel “Dune.” Herbert penned a total of five sequels.

Explaining the concept behind “Dune Messiah,” Villeneuve shared, “’Dune Messiah’ was written in reaction to the fact that people perceived Paul Atreides as a hero, which is not what he wanted to do. My adaptation [of ‘Dune’] is closer to his idea that it’s actually a warning.”

However if the Studio wants to expand the Dune saga with more parts then they’ll have to find someone other than Denis Villeneuve.

Up ahead, Villeneuve’s upcoming release, “Dune: Part Two,” will continue to follow the journey of Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet. Paul joins forces with Chani, portrayed by Zendaya, and the Fremen as they seek vengeance against those responsible for their family’s downfall. The sequel’s ensemble cast includes Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Lea Seydoux, and more.

Due to ongoing challenges, “Dune: Part Two” has been rescheduled for release on March 15, 2024.
