Disney+ Brings Long Awaited “Star Wars: Detours” Back From The Dead

Star Wars, one of the most loved franchises that is out there today is an absolute fan favourite. The franchise has over the years released many movies, spin-offs and animation series and all of them have seen ultimate success and also turned into cult classics. With all these content, the franchise was also ready to release a brand new series long back.

Titled, “Star Wars: Detours”, George Lucas was busy creating an animated series for the fans but sadly, the series was never released. This happened when Disney purchased Lucasfilm and they wanted them to focus more on the original stories, rather than an animation spin-off. The series which was almost nearing complete had shot almost more than half of the episodes and was sadly scrapped.

But, now if rumours are to be believed, the animated series is all set to arrive on Disney+ in May, which is next month. Apparently the series has now been completed and Disney wants this to be released too. The show’s tentative release dates are said to be 4th of May. Earlier 39 episodes were shot and ready and now with all the unproduced episodes being added, the number of episodes might be around 52.

This particular Star Wars animated series is said to be unique in certain ways, as first of all it is not a direct sequel of any movies from the franchise. The animated series in fact is a complete parody of the franchise with the original characters in it.

Makers believed that this might act as something on the lighter note as fans are always used to the high intensity of the Star Wars franchise. The show is set between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy, and the voice cast includes Seth Green, Dee Bradley Baker, Anthony Daniels, Ahmed Best, Zachary Levi, Felicia Day, Seth McFarlane and many more.

The show is created by George Lucas and Brendan Hay serves as the Head Writer for the series. The show is directed by Todd Grimes and is supposedly divided into 2 seasons. It is unclear if both the seasons will be released together or not.
