Disney+ Cancels Live-Action ‘Nautilus’ Series

According to Deadline, Disney is no longer moving forward with the live-action Nautilus series, a project based on Jules Verne’s ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’. It was supposed to come out on the Disney+ streaming platform.

The 10-part Nautilus series was announced back in 2021. It would have explored the origin story of Captain Nemo and his iconic submarine, The Nautilus.

Nemo (Shazad Latif) was born as a prince in a royal Indian family. The East India Company robbed him of his birthright and family. This scenario forces the protagonist to take revenge on the EIC. He assembles a ragtag crew and gets his hands on The Nautilus. Apart from fighting frequent battles with his adversary, he also encounters a magical underwater world.

The duo of Anand Tucker (Seven Stories) and Xavier Marchand (Moonriver Studios) served as the series’ producers.

The filming for the series has been completed, which commenced in February last year in Australia.

Disney+ is reportedly aiding the production team in finding a new home for the Nautilus series. The series had talents like Shazad Latif, Georgia Flood, Thierry Fremont, Pacharo Mzembe, Arlo Green, Andrew Shaw, Ling Cooper Tang, and more. Stay tuned for more updates.
