Disney’s relentless expansion of one franchise shows no signs of stopping, particularly with the sluggish progress on Star Wars content – a disheartening development for core fans. However, will that deter Disney from giving the Star Wars Universe some much-needed rest? Absolutely not.
The initial episodes of Ahsoka faced a common issue found in many Star Wars series, where the early installments seemed somewhat aimless and were not warmly received. Nevertheless, as the first season concluded, many assumed there wouldn’t be a follow-up season.
Even Rosario Dawson kept fans uncertain with comments like, “No. We’re supposed to be having a dinner soon, with the whole cast, which will be really nice because I haven’t seen everyone,” she said. “I was very jealous seeing everyone at some of their cons recently, which I wasn’t able to attend.”
However, Disney and Lucasfilm defied these speculations.
Dave Filoni, mentored by George Lucas and co-creator of Ahsoka Tano, is actively developing Ahsoka Season 2 for Disney+. The first season, a Disney+ hit, significantly influenced plans for The Mandalorian era. Notably, it featured Lars Mikkelsen as the live-action Grand Admiral Thrawn, a key antagonist in this Star Wars timeline.
Disney is also set to work on The Mandalorian and Grogu for a new Star Wars film. The series undeniably stands as one of the franchise’s finest projects to date, and we have to wait to see if they can build on the success of the series.
