Disney+ Hotstar Premieres New K-Drama, ‘Shadow Detective’

Disney Plus Hotstar has released a string of acclaimed Korean series such as Snowdrop and Big Mouth on its platform in recent times. And the streaming behemoth has now premiered its newest Korean drama, titled ‘Shadow Detective’. Two episodes of the series have begun streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar as of now. The series had a simultaneous premiere in South Korea, as well as across the world on Disney Plus.

Shadow Detective features well-known Korean stars such as Lee Sung-min, Jin Goo, Kyung Soo-jin and Lee Hak-joo, among others. The series is directed by Han Dong-hwa, who’s earlier directed Navillera. It is written by Im Chang-Se.

Shadow Detective follows the story of an accomplished detective who finds himself falsely accused of murder and is blackmailed into re-investigating his former cases by the real murderer. Veteran detective Taek-rok (played by Lee Sung-min of Juvenile Justice fame) is looking forward to his upcoming retirement, when he gets drawn into a series of prank calls, which soon turn threatening.

When his estranged colleague Woo Hyun-Seok (Kim Tae-Hoon of Navillera fame) turns up dead, Taek-rok is accused of his murder. However, his much younger boss Kuk Jin-han (played by Jin Goo of Descendants of the Sun fame) believes in his innocence, and along with colleagues Lee Sung-a (Kyung Soo-jin of Mouse fame), and Song Kyung-chan (Lee Hak-joo of My Name fame), the four get down to hunting for the real murderer before time runs out for Taek-rok.
