Disney+Hotstar Unveils Stunning Showreel To Announce Upcoming Content!

The rest of the year 2021 will be Disney Plus Hotstar’s time to shine in the Indian content landscape. The streaming giant is taking things to another level altogether, with an entire slate of delectable upcoming content. Disney Plus Hotstar has just dropped a stunning showreel to announce all the shows and movies that it has coming up in the second half of 2021.

The 2:21 minute long showreel is set to the pulsating beats of the “Dhan Ta Nan” song from the film, Kaminey. But that’s not the only vibrant thing of the video. The video gives viewers a short preview of all the shows that will make an appearance this year on Disney Plus Hotstar, including both new and returning shows. The showreel is studded with unseen images from all the much-talked-about shows that Disney Plus Hotstar has on the anvil.

It opens with rousing shots of Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha from “Bhuj: The Pride Of India”; followed by goofy sequences featuring Saif Ali Khan, from its next Bollywood acquisition, “Bhoot Police”. Bhuj: The Pride Of India has set up the Independence Day weekend for release. It premieres on Disney Plus Hotstar on 13th August. Bhoot Police is also ready for release, though there’s no premiere date announced for it as yet.

From there on, the showreel goes into as-yet-unrevealed territory. The most intriguing are the shots from its upcoming show, “The Empire”, a show that narrates the rise and rise of the Mughal Empire in India. The showreel features thrilling shots from the upcoming show – the first shots yet that have been revealed from the hotly anticipated show. Kunal Kapoor looks astounding in the sequences, as does Dino Morea. We also get a glimpse of the beauteous Drashti Dhami from the series. Their roles are as yet unspecified, but the first glimpses sure look terrific.

The showreel then goes on to give us a few glimpses of Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s “Human”. Kirti Kulhari and Shefali Shah give off impressive vibes – the two seem to be at loggerheads with each other in Human. Seema Biswas makes an appearance too. We are also treated to shots from previously-announced shows by Disney Plus Hotstar — “Escaype Live”, “Those Pricey Thakur Girls”, “Gharshana”, “Fear 1.0”, “Rudra” and—the most exciting of the lot—”Six Suspects”.

The last one gives glimpses of the show’s much-appreciated leading man, Pratik Gandhi. After his blockbuster “Scam 1992”, everyone is keen to see the magic he conjures in Six Suspects. The show is an adaptation of Vikas Swarup’s novel of the same name. Viewers will know Swarup as the author of Q&A, the origin novel of “Slumdog Millionaire”.

Interestingly, Remo D’Souza’s dance reality show, “Dance+” is all set to go digital, as is apparent from the showreel. Cricket too features prominently in the video. The remainder of the IPL 2021 is obviously on the anvil. More significantly, Disney Plus Hotstar has grabbed the rights to stream the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, to be held in October – November 2021.

The Disney Plus Hotstar showreel also gives us glimpses from returning shows, “Aarya 2”, “City Of Dreams 2” and “Special Ops 1.5”.
