Jayam Ravi’s latest movie, “Bhoomi” is all set to release on OTT platform. This time it’s Disney+ Hotstar, the movie is to be released on the 14thof January, 2021. This movie also marks a landmark milestone for Jayam Ravi, as this is his 25thfilm from the industry. The movie has been trending with various hashtags all over social media and for all the right reasons. The movie is also special for the lead actress Nidhhi Agerwal, as she will be debuting into the industry with “Bhoomi”. Also, the antagonist played by Ronit Roy’s role is also quite special as this will be his debut character in the Tamil film industry.
The movie on the other hand is based on the story of a scientist who happens to have worked with NASA and comes back and when he comes back home, he tries to advance the agricultural activities of his village. Along with that, he too becomes a farmer helping the people from his village on the way. The movie will show the hard truths behind farming and the plight of farmers that normally goes unattended.
This seems to have lined up pretty well with the situations that we have in our hand at the moment. It’s been quite some time now since India saw a monumental change when it came to the recent Farmer’s Bill being announced. This resulted in protests erupting from all the corners of the country because it is hard to digest something so wrong going on with the people that are the source of our food in our homes or wherever we are. The reason we are able to relish a delicious meal is because these people literally put their blood, sweat and tears in feeding the people of the nation. Their voices need to be listened to at all costs.
Though this movie isn’t the exact copy of the farmer’s bill or the protests, it sure is based on the plight of the farmers and will show what they do in order to get it together from people that took it from them. The movie is directed by Lakshman. Jayam Ravi and Lakshman have earlier worked on films like Romeo Juliet and Bogan. The movie also stars Sathish, Thambi Ramaiah, Dato Radha Ravi and others. The music is composed by D. Imman and cinematography is done by Dudley.
