Shreyas Talpade’s cricket-based film ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’, which premiered on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform earlier this month, has achieved an impressive feat on the globally renowned movies database portal IMDb.
The inspiring sports drama has become the fourth Indian movie from the year 2022 to make its way on the highest-rated Indian movies of all time on IMDb. It currently holds an impressive IMDb user rating of 9/10 based on around 5.3k votes.
And in doing that, ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’ has outranked two critically acclaimed 2022 films namely the Pranav Mohanlal starrer romantic drama ‘Hridayam’ and the Marathi language historical drama movie ‘Pawankhind’.
The only other film from 2022 that is ahead of ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’ on the IMDb list is S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster actioner ‘RRR’.
As per its current IMDb rank, ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’ is just ahead of SRK’s cult rom-com ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Omkara’, Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, Mani Ratnam’s ‘Bombay’, Kamal Haasan’s vigilante actioner ‘Indian’, and the widely admired Malayalam language film ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’, to name a few.
However, it remains to be seen whether ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’ will be able to retain its rank and place on the coveted IMDb top 250 list in the longer run.
Helmed by Jayprad Desai, ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’ narrates the incredible underdog story of Indian cricketer Pravin Tambe, who had made his cricket league debut at the age of 41. Interestingly, he had not even played any international or first-class cricket match before that. Shreyas Talpade, who has previously essayed a cricketer’s role in Nagesh Kukunoor’s ‘Iqbal’, had stepped into the shoes of Pravin Tambe for the film.
