Disney+ Idealises Netflix As It May Ban Users!

When it comes to creating trouble for the users there is hardly any difference between Netflix, Disney+ or any other platform for that matter. We informed our readers how Disney+ is also bringing a crackdown on password sharing just like Netflix.

Disney+ has notified subscribers that sharing their subscription outside of their household may no longer be allowed unless permitted by their service tier. Violating these terms could result in limited access or termination of the service. It appears that Disney+ will introduce new options for sharing accounts with friends and family. All these steps are yet again, rip-off from Netflix.

This update to subscriber agreements is part of Disney’s effort to monetize account freeloaders, as announced by CEO Bob Iger earlier this year. Disney is actively exploring ways to address account sharing and will update subscriber agreements later this year, with a full rollout of monetization tactics expected in 2024.

Disney is following in the footsteps of Netflix, which introduced a “paid-sharing program” to discourage password sharing. Netflix’s approach proved successful, contributing to a significant increase in subscribers in the second quarter. However, Disney is also raising prices for its premium tiers of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ in the U.S.

Despite a slight drop in subscribers in the U.S. and Canada for Disney+ in the last quarter, the service still boasts a substantial user base of 105.7 million globally, excluding Disney+ Hotstar.
