Remember the time when we used to have friends over our houses or vice versa? How we used to watch movies and had fun? Enter Covid-19! We can’t even go out of our house let alone meeting our friends. Many people miss the environment of watching shows or movies with friends or loved ones but due to the pandemic that fun has been missing.
But it seems like Disney+ has come up with a fantastic solution to this in the form of GroupWatch. Yes! Disney+ has brought the trending feature in their Platform as well. Viewers now can stream shows like The Mandalorian and Hamilton with this feature and can take upto seven people including oneself in the GroupWatch. Each person will have the luxury to play pause or stop the video. While no chat system is there as of yet, viewers can send emojis during the playback. The feature will be available on Disney+ website, on the Android and iPhone apps, smart TVs and connected devices.
Disney claimed that the feature of GroupWatch was in works for quite some time but the engineers at the making team wanted to be absolutely sure of the perfect working of the feature. There were several places to look including the bandwidth of internet of different people who are living at a different location. Plus they also kept working in making the feature seamless so that all the streams sync very well and one doesn’t feel lagged.
Now after the test runs which were conducted in Australia, Canada and New Zealand, the feature has been launched in United States recently. While no update on when will it be arriving in India, the feature will be rolled in Europe soon enough.
Accessing GroupWatch is very easy. Just follow these simple steps!
1. Open Disney+ App in your Android, iOS, or go into Disney+ official website.
2. Search and open your desired movie or TV show.
3. Select the GroupWatch icon which will be available on the screen.
4. You’ll see an option of invite, use that to invite upto 6 your friends or family members or the people of your desire.
5. They’ll get the invite ( only through a mobile phone or web ).
6. Once joined, start the video and enjoy with company!
Disney Plus is the latest platform to launch this feature as other platform already having this feature include Hulu ( Hulu Watchparty), Amazon Prime ( Prime Watch Party )
