Disney+ Learns From Hotstar! Brings Ad-Supported Cheaper Service

Disney+Hotstar is undoubtedly the single largest streaming service in India. With about 46 million subscribers, Disney+Hotstar accounts for 37% of the revenue that Disney+ generates.

Needless to say, it is an astounding number and there are multiple factors behind this figure. But it seems that Disney Plus is finally learning from Hotstar. The Indian streaming giant offers ad-supported services at a very reasonable price. Even though the ad-free service is not very expensive looking at the general competition, the cheaper ones definitely contribute a lot in increasing the number of subscribers it has.

Yesterday Disney+ announced that they will get even more affordable but with a little bit of instruction.

The chairman of Disney Media And Entertainment Distribution said, “Expanding access to Disney+ to a broader audience at a lower price point is a win for everyone — consumers, advertisers, and our storytellers. More consumers will be able to access our amazing content. Advertisers will be able to reach a wider audience, and our storytellers will be able to share their incredible work with more fans and families.”

Currently, Disney+ has a total of 130 million subscribers and is the house of some of the best television shows just like WandaVision, The Book Of Boba Fett and soon to Daredevil as well.

Long story short, this can be a game-changer for Disney+. Just like Hotstar enjoys complete dominance in the Indian OTT space, so can Disney+ on a global scale.
