“Secret Invasion”, one of the several Marvel series under development for Disney Plus, and Disney Plus Hotstar in India, is looking more interesting by the day. The latest buzz about the MCU series is that it has grabbed “One Night In Miami” actor Kingsley Ben-Adir to play a major role in the show. As per reports in the media, Ben-Adir will be playing one of the main villains in “Secret Invasion”, facing off against Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D gang.
Kingsley Ben-Adir is quite the flavour of the season. He has earned himself a BAFTA 2021 nomination for his portrayal of Malcolm X in Regina King’s seminal Amazon Prime Video film, “One Night In Miami”. Ben-Adir has also earned accolades for his portrayal of Barack Obama in “The Comey Rule”. His other notable TV roles include Vera, Peaky Blinders, The OA, High Fidelity, among others.
Secret Invasion already has on board Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, both reprising their roles from the MCU films. “Secret Invasion” is slated to be a crossover series that will centre on the shape-shifting aliens called Skrulls, whose leader is Talos. The Skrulls have slowly and secretly been invading Earth over the years, replacing several superheroes with their own kind. This happens before the events of Secret Invasion. Spider-Man: Far From Home had kicked off the aforementioned events. The post-credits scene of the last Marvel movie had shown Talos and his wife Soren shape-shifting into S.H.I.E.L.D head Nick Fury and Maria Hill.
Interest in Marvel’s Disney Plus series has skyrocketed, ever since the staggering success of the first ever MCU – Disney Plus series, WandaVision. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If?, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Armor Wars, Ironheart and Secret Invasion are the other MCU series for Disney Plus in the pipeline.
