Disney Pixar’s animated film ‘Lightyear’ finally has an OTT release date. The action-packed film arrives on Disney Plus and Disney Plus Hotstar on August 3, 2022.
‘Lightyear‘, a spinoff film of Pixar’s ‘Toy Story’ series of films, released in theatres on June 17. The film features Buzz Lightyear, the main character of the Toy Story films. But it differs from the latter films in the essence of the character of Buzz Lightyear. In the Toy Story films, Buzz is a toy that comes alive, unbeknownst to its human owners. In Lightyear, however, Buzz Lightyear is a human space ranger, who is marooned on a hostile planet with his commander and crew. He must find a way back home, even as he has to fight hostile elements that threaten the safety of the universe.
Buzz Lightyear is voiced by Chris Evans in ‘Lightyear’. Keke Palmer, Peter Sohn, Taika Waititi, Dale Soules, James Brolin, and Uzo Aduba are the other voice actors in Lightyear. The film is written and directed by Angus MacLane. Jason Headley is the co-writer of Lightyear.
The film did below expectations at the box office upon release in the theatres. The box office collection of Lightyear suffered mostly due to the strong showing of Too Gun: Maverick and Jurassic World: Dominion.
