Disney and Pixar’s “Soul” is coming up on Disney+ Hotstar. Soul is the American comedy computer animated movie by Pixar Studio and is to be distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. The movie is a fun take on what our soul actually needs, wants and can do in order to keep ourselves happy. The movie is to be released on the 25th of December, 2020
The story follows the journey of Joe Gardener, a passionate music teacher who feels music is the thing that keeps him going and is in his soul too. After getting appointed to play in a jazz band at a club, a misstep on the way back leads his soul to the Great Beyond, but as he realises he is going to the presumed heaven, he breaks the line and falls down to “Great Before”, a place where souls are given their personalities and then set off to be in human bodies on earth.
As he navigates his way through the Great Before, he comes across 22, a soul who doesn’t want to leave and enter earth or be a human. Joe sees that and as they come across various points in their journey he teaches 22, how life is beautiful, how you can make your life beautiful when you have who you love, people that love, a community to give to and so much learning and teachings that goes on. As they spend time, Joe is told that he needs to return to earth before his body gives up and he has to leave for heaven. This is when 22 and Joe is kicked down to earth and a whole new journey starts.
The voices of Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey are the lead voices for this movie. The movie premiered at BFI London Film festival in October, 2020. It has received many positive feedbacks and accolades and looks like it might end up being Disney’s entry into the Oscars 2021.
