Close on the heels of announcing its slate of Korean series for its platform, Disney Plus is back with another interesting revelation – a new Korean series, other than the previously announced ones. The just announced series is titled ‘Low Life’, and it is scheduled to release on Disney Plus worldwide sometime in 2025. The series will premiere Disney Plus Hotstar in India.
The newly announced ‘Low Life’ comes from Kang Yoon-sung, the director of Big Bet, and Yoon Tae-ho, the writer of Misaeng. The series is set in the backdrop of under-sea smugglers, looking to salvage treasure from an ancient sunken ship. ‘Low Life’ is adapted from the webtoon titled ‘Pain’, created by Yoon Tae-Ho.
The story of ‘Low Life’ follows Oh Hee-Dong (Yang Se-Jong), who has been brought up by his uncle, Oh Gwan-Seok (Ryu Seung-Ryong). Oh Gwan-Seok is an opportunist who will do anything to make money, be it legal or illegal. Oh Hee-Dong too joins his uncle in his criminal career.
When Oh Gwan-Seok receives a request to salvage treasures from a sunken ship off the waters of Shinan, the uncle-nephew sense an opportunity to make millions. But they find that news about the ship has attracted dangerous treasure-seekers too.
Besides Ryu Seung-Ryong as Oh Gwan-Seok and Yang Se-Jong as Oh Hee-Dong, Low Life stars Lim Soo-Jung, Kim Eui-Sung, Kim Sung-Oh, Hong Ki-Joon, Jang Gwang, Kim Jong-Soo, Woo Hyeon, Lee Dong-Hwi, U-Know Yunho, Lim Hyung-Joon, Lee Sang-Jin and Kim Min in pivotal roles.
