The streaming platform, Disney+ Hotstar has started testing 4K UHD resolution after several reports of beta testing the 4K HDR resolution on Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and Android TV recently.
According to reports, the new update is available as of now only for the drama film, ‘Togo’ with a transmission rate of 22.4 mbps.
‘Togo’ is a 2019 drama film about a man and his sled dog who weather harsh conditions in the 1925 serum run to Nome during the diphtheria epidemic. It released on Disney+ Hotstar in December last year although the viewing options have been recently upgraded for android TV and Fire Stick 4K users.
The option was made available for subscribers this week after which many users noted the enhanced quality while streaming the film. Since the option is still in beta testing, it’s only compatible with Android TV for now while Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K users only have the normal HD resolution option.
Besides these exciting upgrades that’ll enhance the user experience for all subscribers, Disney+ Hotstar has also been testing various other viewing options such as Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG functionality and 4K HDR resolution for media streaming sticks.
Disney+ Hotstar has been taking these measures apart from increasing its content library to retain existing customers and offer a better experience than its peers in the digital entertainment industry so that it can effectively take control of the huge market share that India offers to the streaming platform.
