Disney Plus Hotstar had announced its new series ‘Escaype Live‘, under its flagship Hotstar Specials category. Now, two years later, the platform is all set to release the exciting new series on its platform. ‘Escaype Live’ premieres on Disney Plus Hotstar on May 20.
Disney Plus Hotstar also launched a 2-minute trailer for Escaype Live, which delves into the thrilling premise of the show. Escaype Live is the name of a glitzy social media app that gives common people the chance to win the eye-popping sum of 3 crore rupees. All they have to do is win the popularity stakes on the social media app by performing daring, uniquely different acts. Obviously, the more exciting a contestant is on Escaype Live, the more votes they get, and the closer they are to winning the bounty.
Six young aspirants get attracted to Escaype Live, lured by the seemingly easy money they stand to win. Initially, it’s all hunky dory. But as the stakes get higher, the contestants are compelled to perform increasingly dangerous and horrifying acts to get ahead in the game.
Though not quite like it, the trailer of Disney Plus Hotstar’s Escaype Live will give you ‘Squid Game’ vibes. The series is created, written and directed by Siddharth Kumar Tewary. It stars Siddharth, Javed Jaaferi, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Swastika Mukherjee, Plabita Borthakur, Waluscha D Souza, Ritvik Sahore, Sumedh Mudgalkar, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, Jagjeet Sandhu, Rohit Chandel and Aadyaa Sharma, among others.
Siddharth is back in a Hindi series after a long time. He had last appeared in Leila on Netflix, besides the Tamil series, Navarasa. Escaype Live is an interesting proposition for fans of Sumedh Mudgalkar, the light-eyed actor who played Krishna in the TV show Radha Krishn. From playing a serene, smiling Lord Krishna in the TV show, to essaying a distinctly dark character in Escaype Live, it’s quite a U-turn for the actor.
