Takashi Miike, the Japanese auteur needs no introduction. The man that rewrote Japanese action thriller as a genre collaborates with Disney+ for a korean thriller streaming series this time. Titled ‘Connect’, the show stars Jung Hae-in, who won hearts worldwide with Disney+ Snowdrop in the lead. The first trailer of the show dropped today. The show targets a December premiere with no exact date revealed as of now.
The trailer is a full on Jung Hae-in show. The actor who impressed all of us with his exemplary act in Disney+ series ‘Snowdrop‘ is bound to recreate even more refined acting moments in Connect. Besides a very thumping score and stylish colour palette, the trailer gives a sneak-peak at the core theme of the show, i.e connection through organ donation. Nevertheless, we are definitely in for a ride from the looks of it.
Based on a webtoon of the same name, Connect depicts a mysterious story that occurs when a man who has been deprived of an organ in his body by organ hunters, connects with a person who has received an organ transplant. The webtoon by Shin-Dae Sung is one of the most adored webtoons of all time. With Takashi Miike directing, the show is bound to create some records.
Alongside Jung Hae-in the series stars Go Kyung-pyo, Kim Hye-jun, Jang Gwang in major roles. The series is the first South Korean drama to be helmed by a Japanese director. The series will premiere at 27th Busan International Film Festival in “Onscreen Section” in October 2022. Watch the trailer here :
