Disney+ just pulled a Prime Video Move With Its Baby Yoda Film

It’s as of late Prime Video’s forte releasing big titles abruptly without any major marketing. This time around, it seems Disney+ has followed suit for its latest Star Wars movie! Yes, you read it right. For a story set in the Star Wars universe( albeit a short animated film), the sudden news of its release on Disney+ Hotstar was a pleasant surprise to many fans. And when will the movie be released? Today!

One of Disney’s much-loved titles this year was the shorts series ‘I am Groot’ set in the MCU, featuring Baby Groot and his adventures. Disney it seems is continuing its love for shorts with its new Star Wars animated film. And adding to the excitement is the fact that Star Wars creators LucasFilm will be collaborating this time with a legendary Japanese animation studio- Studio Ghibli- known for its cult films like ‘Spirited Away’ and ‘Princess Mononoke’.

Studio Ghibli earlier teased the collaboration when they released a miniature version of Grogu on social media. The project will be a hand-drawn short film and will have the meeting of characters from each of the studio’s well-known characters. Titled ‘Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies’, the film will feature adorable alien child Grogu from ‘The Mandalorian’ and the anthropomorphized coal dust bunnies from Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning masterpiece ‘Spirited Away’.

Grogu, also referred to as Baby Yoda, is a character from the Star Wars Disney+ original television series ‘The Mandalorian’. He is a toddler member of the same species as the Star Wars characters Yoda and Yaddle, with whom he shares a strong ability in the Force. The animated short will be directed by Katsuya Kondo in celebration of the third anniversary of the streaming service and its acclaimed Star Wars series, ‘The Mandalorian’.
