Disney’s long-in-the-making movie Artemis Fowl, based on the popular children’s novel of the same name, was made with a theatrical release in mind. But the Coronavirus shutdown has compelled the behemoth to shift the release of Artemis Fowl to streaming. Artemis Fowl will now stream on Disney Plus, Disney’s streaming service, or Disney Plus Hotstar Premium in India.
Finally, today, Disney revealed the release date for the fantasy thriller movie, and it happens to be 12th June 2020. Along with the date of release, it also revealed a new teaser to announce the premiere, in addition to the one it had already released previously.
Artemis Fowl, the best-selling book by Eoin Colfer, has been adapted for the screen by Kenneth Branagh. Debutant actor Ferdia Shaw stars as Artemis Fowl, the 12-year-old genius who embarks on an adventurous, danger-laden face-off with powerful and fantastical creatures who are responsible for the disappearance of his father. The movie has a spectacular ensemble cast, including Colin Farrell, Dame Judi Dench, Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Josh McGuire, Nikesh Patel and Adrian Scarborough.
Shared Branagh, about the primary protagonist, “In challenging times, a twelve year old criminal mastermind is one heck of a travelling companion. Smart, funny, and cool as mustard, he’ll take you to new worlds, meet unforgettable characters, and mix magic with mayhem. His own family is everything to him, and (although he’d never admit it), he’d be as proud as I am that families around the world will now be able to enjoy his first amazing screen adventures together, on Disney Plus.”
Artemis Fowl premieres on Disney Plus Hotstar Premium on 12th June 2020.
