Secret Invasion is the next big thing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the recent release of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. One of the series’ cast members, Emilia Clarke, has shared an exciting update about the upcoming Marvel production. She has promised that the show is for everyone, even for Non-Marvel fans.
Clarke will play G’iah, a rebel and hardened Skrull and daughter of Talos (played by Ben Mendelsohn). She recently appeared in an interview with Empire, where she shared details about the series’ broad appeal.
“It’s definitely a show for the fans, but it’s also a show that my mum, who doesn’t watch Marvel, will watch and get, do you know what I mean? You can get into dangerous territory sometimes with this sort of genre where if you haven’t watched all 17 other films or shows, you’re not going to get it. This isn’t that at all,” Clarke revealed.
Ben Mendelsohn has also shared views similar to that of Clarke recently. In his words, Secret Invasion is a show that “the grownups can dig”. Additionally, he disclosed the dynamics of Talos’ relationship with Nick Fury. The upcoming MCU instalment will show how much their friendship has changed since their previous meeting.
However, the above-mentioned case does not mean that Secret Invasion is a completely standalone project without connections to the MCU. The show is still a big part of Kevin Feige’s superhero franchise, proved by Don Cheadle’s presence. He will play a much-complicated role in the upcoming show than his previous appearances in the MCU. His version of Colonel James Rhodes will be “a political animal and not a guy who has a special suit” in the show, according to Samuel L. Jackson.
Consisting of six episodes, Secret Invasion will release on Disney+ Hotstar on June 21. Stay tuned for more updates.
