Disney is definitely not having a good time, as their two consecutive projects fell flat, making it even harder for the franchise to sustain in many aspects. With a massive dent on their MCU side and the animated aspect, it’s more of a statement than a monetary loss.
As for what most streaming platforms are doing to earn some bucks, the trend continues, and this time it’s Disney sending some big boy titles for a trip to the red and black brand in 2024.
Although Netflix is currently ‘down,’ a resurgence will soon occur as Disney shows its generosity by letting Netflix stream some of its bigger shows. The list includes shows like This is Us and The Resident.
The licensed shows will arrive on the streaming platform throughout the year of 2024, and the titles will be as follows.
This is Us – Jan 8
The Resident – March 4
White Collar – April 1
Archer – May 13
How I Met You Mother – June 3
Lost – July 1
Prison Break – July 29
This does look like a very strange act, as some of the titles, including How I Met Your Mother and Prison Break, are indeed evergreen ones. They maintain traffic throughout the years as more and more people tend to revisit the episodes.
Even with a Prison Break film under speculation, the timing doesn’t seem right, and Disney might regret the decision. Netflix does come out as the winner here, as even keeping a series like Lost under their disposal will work. Who knows, it might be a late bloomer like Suits?
