There has been a lot of buzz around the upcoming Disney+ series called Loki. The Marvel Cinematic Universe series has generated palpable interest in fans of the God of Mischief Loki, brother of Thor, with a genesis in Asgard.
Now, there’s another bit of news coming in from that end, that has amped up the buzz significantly. As per select reports in the media, Loki is poised to introduce a transgender superhero, the first time ever that a transgender superhero will grace the world of superheroes.
The new character is called Sera, and she is purportedly a male who identifies herself as female. She’s a member of a race of wingless angels who are all born male, though Sera also displays female traits, making her distinctly transgender.
The LGBT community has found adequate representation in the superhero realm, courtesy gay, bisexual or pansexual superheroes and their sidekicks. But there has never been a transgender superhero character ever, until now that is. Rick & Morty writer Michael Waldron is the writer of Loki. Kate Herron, of Sex Education, is the director.
Loki will see Tom Hiddleston reprise his role as the popular character. The series is in its preproduction and prep stages right now, as seen in a video shared by Tom on his Instagram. Have a look!
