Disney+ has sealed a deal with Beta Film and Morena Films for the adaptation of the adult drama novel franchise, The Invisible Girl (Chica Invisible), penned down by Blue Jeans. The upcoming adaptation will be a part of the streaming service’s Spanish arm.
The Invisible Girl adaptation will be eight-hour-long series. Although, the makers are yet to reveal the number of episodes. The production will take place in Carmona, Spain and various other locations. The forthcoming show will take inspiration from the book trilogy written by Blue Jeans. Morena Films will handle all the production duties. On the other hand, Beta Film has taken the show’s international rights.
The series has been hailed as an “atmospheric thriller” by the makers. It will revolve around a father-daughter duo who becomes a part of an investigation of the murder of a teenage girl. Daniel Grao and Zoe Stein will play the leading duo. The show’s events will take place in the fictional town of Cardena. Apart from settling their differences, the characters of Grao and Stein will find themselves in all sorts of trouble as everyone in the mysterious town of Cardena is a suspect.
Pedro Uriol, one of the executive producers at Morena Films, revealed, “The Invisible Girl will surprise both fans of the novel and those who do not know the story yet. The young-adult thriller is mysterious and exciting with a sensational cast and a purely cinematic look. Father and daughter need to overcome their differences to solve a murder case that has shaken the peaceful lives of the inhabitants of Cárdena; it is a character-driven story which will captivate viewers visually and emotionally.”
Additionally, Andreas Khevenhüller-Metsch from Beta Film has hailed The Invisible Girl as “the next Spanish must-watch show.” The makers will reveal the upcoming Disney+ show’s release date soon. Stay tuned for more updates.
