During the ongoing Star Wars Celebration event in London, Lucasfilm has dropped a brand new trailer for Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 and its one exciting video clip. ‘Star Wars: Visions’ Volume 2 will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on 4th May, 2023 aka Star Wars Day.
Building on the Emmy Award-nominated first run of Star Wars: Visions in 2021, will feature nine new shorts from nine studios from around the globe. The shorts feature unique animation styles from a variety of countries and cultures, depicting each filmmaker’s specific vision of the Star Wars galaxy.
The international studios involved in Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 are El Guiri (Spain), Cartoon Saloon (Ireland), Punkrobot (Chile), Aardman (United Kingdom), Studio Mir (South Korea) Studio La Cachette (France), 88 Pictures (India), D’art Shtajio (Japan), and Triggerfish (South Africa). D’Art Shtajio’s short was created in collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd. (United States).
From El Guiri comes ‘Sith’ written and directed by Emmy Award winning filmmaker Rodrigo Blaas (‘Ice Age’, ‘Finding Nemo’, ‘The Incredibles’, ‘Ratatouille’, ‘Wall-E’, ‘La Luna’). Then there’s ‘Screecher’s Reach’ by Cartoon Saloon’s Paul Young (‘My Father’s Dragon’, ‘WolfWalkers’, ‘The Secret of Kells’, ‘Song of the Sea’).
Punkrobot’s ‘In The Star’ by writer-director Gabriel Osorio (‘Flipos’, ‘Muelin y Perlita’, ‘Soccer Girls’, ’Bear Story’) is the next in the list followed by Aardman’s ‘I Am Your Mother’ directed by Magdalena Osinska (‘Joyets’, ‘Spirits of the Piano’, ‘Zbigniev’s Cupboard’).
Next up is Studio Mir’s ‘Journey to the Dark Head’ by director Hyeong Geun Park (‘Dota: Dragon’s Blood: Book 3’, ‘Lookism’); Studio La Cachette’s ‘The Spy Dancer’ written and directed by Julien Chheng (‘The Rabbi’s Cat’, ‘Mune’, ‘Ernest and Celestine’).
There’s also 88 Pictures’ ‘The Bandits of Golack’ by director Ishan Shukla (‘Schirkoa’); D’art Shtajio and Lucasfilm Ltd.’s ‘The Pit’ written, directed and executive produced by LeAndre Thomas (‘Light & Magic’, ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’, ‘Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi’) with Justin Ridge (‘Star Wars Rebels’, ‘Storks’, ‘The Cleveland Show’, ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’, ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’) as the co-director.
And lastly there’s Triggerfish’s ‘Aau’s Song’ by writer-directors Nadia Darries (‘Stick Man’, ‘Revolting Rhymes’, ‘Highway Rat’) and Daniel Clarke (‘Khumba’, ‘Stick Man’, ‘The Snail and the Whale’).
