Good news for fans who like period dramas more than anything else. A new series of the genre is soon going to be available on OTT. The show is titled ‘Django’ and it will premiere on Lionsgate Play on the 9th of August. The movie is based on the Spaghetti Western movie of the same name which came out in 1966 and was directed by Sergio Corbucci.
The show will be the story of Julian Wright who is also called Django. Django is a man with a troubled past and he is in search of his daughter. His whole family was murdered but he believes his daughter is still there in the city of New Babylon. All outcasts are welcome in New Babylon. Django finds Sarah, the daughter, there but their reconciliation is still not possible as Sarah thinks trouble will follow Django even in the city.
The show is written by Leonardo Fasol, Maddalena Ravagli and Max Hurwitz and the direction is by filmmaker Francesca Comencini.
The original Django film had multiple sequels, TV shows and games that became equally popular. Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’ was heavily inspired by it. If you have liked Django Unchained, you might like ‘Django’ as well. There are ten episodes in all and stars actors like Matthias Schoenaerts, Nicholas Pinnock, Lisa Vicari and Noomi Rapace.
