‘Do Revenge‘ is now available to watch on Netflix. The American comedy focuses on convoluted social plots and vicious popular cliques. The movie is directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson who previously wrote Marvel’s ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’. She is also famous for writing and directing films like ‘Sweet/Vicious’. Do Revenge stars a talented cast of Camila Mendes, Maya Hawke, Austin Abrams, Sophie Turner and others. It has its screenplay written by the director herself and Celeste Ballard.
The story revolves around a previously popular girl who used to be the center of attraction of the posh private school she attended. Soon she makes a deal with an unassuming new student to take revenge on each other’s enemies. The plot is clearly inspired from the thriller from Hitchcock, Strangers On A Train.
American comedies and thrillers on teenage school-going girls is another cliché. Every year there is some film or the other about the inner conflicts of teenagers as well as the tensions between classmates. This movie takes the same premise but the more important point to think is, will the movie raise itself above the average quality of these high-school movies ! No masterpiece has been released in this category for long.
The film is available in Hindi as well as in English. The film does not make us feel that we should expect it to be something of tremendous value to the OTT film industry. But the writer and director of the movie still give some hope about the unveiling of some goodness and cinematic experience in the film as we watch.
