Do We Really Need Such Silly Buzz Making For Big Films Like ‘Coolie’!

Debunking the rumours that ‘Coolie’ has been shelved, renowned filmmaker Lokesh Kanagraj took to social media today to unveil Rajinikanth’s look test from the film and also announced that ‘Coolie’ begins shoot next month.

It all began when ‘Coolie’ was not found to be mentioned in Lokesh’s profile bio on X. People were quick to react and speculate that the film has been put on hold. To remind you, similar situation had occurred for Vijay starrer ‘Leo’.

For those who don’t know, Lokesh usually mentions only those films in his bio that have completed the censorship process to have a finalised release date.

Although it might very well be a marketing strategy to get everyone talking about the film and to say the least, it did work to some extent. But to be honest we don’t really need such cheap marketing strategies to create buzz for films that have such big names like that of Rajinikanth and Kanagraj attached to them.

What these things actually do is lower the credibility and confidence of the viewers in such tentpole projects that they usually look forward to so eagerly. So instead of falling victim to silly methods, it’s better to be direct and clear with the fans.

An action drama, ‘Coolie’ delves into a man’s relentless quest for vengeance since youth, driven by righting past wrongs, shaping his very existence. Viewers get to experience the complexities of his tumultuous vendetta journey. Directed by Lokesh Kanagraj (‘Leo’, ‘Vikram’), ‘Coolie’ is also said to star Shruti Haasan, Fahadh Faasil, Sathyaraj and others in prominent roles.
