Netflix has bought the digital rights for both the films ‘Doctor G‘ and ‘Code Name: Tiranga‘. Ayushmann Khurrana leads ‘Doctor G’ with Rakul Preet Singh and Shefali Shah and is directed by Anubhuti Kashyap. Code Name: Tiranga on the other hand is directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and stars Parineeti Chopra and Hardy Sandhu.
Doctor G and Code Name Tiranga are both released today and there is a clash between an espionage thriller and a social comedy in the box office now. Ayushmann Khurrana has made a name with strong but typical social messages in his films. The success ratio of his films is enviable. On the other hand ‘Code Name: Tiranga director’ is also well known for great stories in films like ‘The Girl On The Train’, ‘Te3n’ and also ‘Bard Of Blood’. Both the films have a potential to do good business in the box office. But considering the recent hatred towards Bollywood and continuous flops, there is Little certainty that audiences will go to see the films in theaters with great excitement.
When there is already news about the streaming of the films digitally, a very legitimate question can arise, that is why would people go to the theaters if the film will have its digital premiere soon. Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Mili’ was posed with the same question. Netflix is acquiring rights for great movies but the promotion somewhere lacks. The way ‘Darlings’ was promoted is not seen in the case of ‘Mili’ and others.
Ayushmann Khurrana’s movies have always done good in the theaters but the thing to see is can Doctor G survive this tough phase for Bollywood! The same goes with Code Name: Tiranga too.
Do not wait for the digital premiere and go to the theaters and enjoy if you like this almost-a-new-genre of Ayushmann Khurrana and also if you are a fan of spy thrillers.
