Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange 3 may serve as an official adaptation of the popular comic book storyline, Time Runs Out.
‘Multiverse of Madness’ showed Doctor Strange developing a third eye, a side-effect of repeated utilisation of the Darkhold and dream walking. In the film’s post-credits scene, he encounters Clea, who informs him about an incursion in the Multiverse generated by his actions in MoM.
According to The Cosmic Circus, Doctor Strange 3 may commence right after MoM’s post-credits scene. Fans may witness The Sorcerer Supreme and Clea exploring the Dark Dimension to fix the multiversal incursions. The latter character is rumoured to lead The Black Priests, a multiversal faction in the void of two dead universes caused by incursions.
The comic storyline, Time Runs Out, ran from September 2014 to April 2015. It focuses on the Multiverse’s decay and the Marvel Universe’s end due to multiversal incursions. A similar scenario will be seen in Doctor Strange 3, teasing the final days of the MCU.
In addition to focusing on incursions, Doctor Strange 3 will analyse how big of a threat The Sorcerer Supreme is to the Multiverse. The upcoming threequel may be a direct preamble to ‘The Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Secret Wars’.
The forthcoming DS entry will confirm that the incursions caused by the ‘Council of Kangs’ is the reason behind the decaying of the Multiverse, and Strange’s actions in MoM have worsened this scenario.
Marvel is yet to reveal the release window for Doctor Strange 3. Stay tuned for more updates.
