Prime Video India is aggressively expanding its documentary offerings, with the upcoming release of “Wedding.con,” its sixth documentary of the year. This is a major takeaway from 2023 as many platforms are focusing on documentaries. The credit goes to Netflix India which kept on making the Indian Predator series last year despite cold responses. Finally, they earned success with their series on Veerappan.
The impact of documentaries has been so great that even Zee5 made a docu on Veerappan but it was nowhere near the Netflix one. Indians have indeed developed a taste in that and it is a great taste nonetheless.
But, let’s talk about the upcoming documentary series on Prime Video called “Wedding.con”.
The documentary exposes the modus operandi of these scammers, who create fake profiles, lure women with promises of love and commitment, and eventually vanish with their money and personal information. The official description reads: “Wedding.con is a true-crime documentary series about five women who seek to fulfil a universal dream – Marriage. However, in their search for the perfect life-partner, they end up getting exploited financially and emotionally by conmen with fake identities, posing as suitable grooms on popular online platforms.”
