Dongri Danger On Prime Video! Is India Ready For Dark Humour?

After the sudden emergence of OTT platforms, stand-up comedies became a staple content for youth. Comedians such as Zakir Khan, Kenny Sebastian and a lot more found a new dedicated audience and sometimes we even enjoyed their shows. A lot of such contents came out to be absolutely cringeworthy but let’s talk about the recently added Dongri Danger On Prime Video.

The show is hosted by Sumaira Shaikh who brought us almost 55 minutes long dose of comedy. In the show, she talks about her childhood memories of growing in the Dongri area of Mumbai. Whenever we think about Mumbai then the glamour surrounding it diminishes the fact that there are also slums that captures the childhood of thousands of children.

Her screen-presence is so strong and impactful that shines through the screen. Her jokes are not over the top and seems relatable to the audience.

The fact that it focuses on darker elements makes it a very unique watch and the show stands out with the audience. Even the set design are meant to recreate the reminiscence of her childhood experience in Dongri. Dark comedy movies like Delhi Belly enjoy a niche dedication amongst viewers and if the show is marketed properly then it has the potential to grab the eyeballs but currently, that does not seem to be happening.
