‘Qahremaan’ or ‘A Hero’ as translated in English had its theatrical release in 2021 and was screened in the Cannes Film Festival and many other prestigious festivals. The film is written and directed by renowned filmmaker Asghar Farhadi
‘A Hero’ tells the story of Rahim, played by Amir Jadidi, who is inside a prison because he could not repay a debt in time. While he gets two days for leave, he uses that time to convince his debtor to withdraw the complaint. He also offers to pay a part of the total money. But things do not go according to the plan and he soon finds something that can change the course of his life. Rahim finds himself in a situation that would question uis character and would also decide his future. The film is inspired from tbe real life story of Mohammed Reza Shokri.
The movie stars actors like Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, Sahar Goldoost, Fereshteh Sadr Orafaie and Sarina Farhadi in important roles. The performances in the film are top-notch and they will stick the story and the ups and downs of the plot to your mind with their subtle acting.
The wonderful cinematography is handled by Ali Ghazi and the editing is done by Hayedeh Safiyari. All the departments of the film are executed very beautifully and simply. We have seen often that the Iranian films express the simple and astounding truths and emotions of life very subtly, they have a certain beauty in the mundane simplicity of life.
