‘Ad Astra’ came out in 2019 and is directed by acclaimed filmmaker James Gray. The movie stars Brad Pitt in the lead role and has actors like Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, Donald Sutherland in other important roles. The performances are convincing and the movie has wonderful execution in almost all the departments.
‘Ad Astra’ is set in the distant future and tells an emotional tale. In the 22nd century, sudden energy surges sweep throughout the solar system and the future of humanity seems to be at stake. Astronaut Roy McBride is employed to go to the very fringes of the solar system to find out the cause of this anomaly. He finds that the reason behind the threat is actually his father who is obsessed with finding alien life and his exploits have put the world at risk. He goes on to find his long-lost father along in his journey and the audiences are taken on an emotional ride.
If you liked films like ‘Gravity’, ‘First Man’ and ‘The Martian’ you should go for ‘Ad astra’ and you will not regret it. The movie is two hours and four minutes long. The visuals are great, all credits to the cinematography of Hoyte van Hoytema. The music has been given by Max Richter.
