Mukul Chadda, who is going to play the lead in the Indian adaptation of The Office, has a massive challenge of meeting the expectations set by the classic original. When asked the same, the actor says that he isn’t worried at all.
The Office, originally a British show, had a successful remake in the US as well. Both the leads have gained tremendous popularity for the respective versions. Mukul Chadda says that he is very well aware of the situation and the other version with which the Indian version would be compared. A sample of that was already seen with the teaser reactions which were anything but positive.
Chadda says that the reaction shows that the people care about the show and its popularity. But a teaser doesn’t correctly highlight the content and people need to watch the show in entirely before they make a serious comment or write it off, cautions the actor.
Not stopping there, Mukul Chadda goes on to say how even it took many years for Steve Carell to make an impression overcoming the original British one. It is how the fans behave when they like something very much and can’t see a new take, points the actor.
Rohan Sippy, and Debbie Rao helm the Office’s Indian version. It premieres on Hotstar Premium from June 28th.
