Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi‘s upcoming movie ‘Double XL‘ is all set to release in cinemas on November 4th. The satellite rights are now bought by Sony Max and streaming rights are brought by Netflix.
The main poster with the two leads was released today. The movie is directed by Satram Ramani and has an additional cast of Zaheer Iqbal, Mahat Raghavendra and others. Satram Ramani last directed the comedy movie ‘Helmet’ and he worked on various films like ‘Ready’, ‘Jai Ho’, ‘Freaky Ali’, ‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ as a writer or production manager.
The movie talks about body shaming and tells the story of two unapologetic girls. The movie can be a well written criticism against the society’s beauty standard and can turn out to be a disaster like ‘Fanney Khan’ as well. There are comedic elements in the movie but there is a saturation of films on social commentary and actors like Ayushman Khurrana are shining in the domain. Also if we look at the director’s filmography, it does not provide much hope for great quality.
Looking at the present hatred towards bollywood, it is possible that the movie may not do a very good business in the box office. But these types of movies are good for watching on tv or online platforms. There is a chance of greater viewership for ‘Double XL’ on OTT and on tv.
The movie will be seen on Sony Max and streamed on Netflix after some time of the theatrical release.
