SonyLIV is known for its innovative series and out of the box content. Tabbar, Scam 1992, Rocket Boys and all are ample examples of how much effort SonyLIV puts into their series.
When a name as promising as Imtiaz Ali is attached to a series then it becomes even more exciting. They even launched the teaser of the series on 2nd April with a caption of “Streaming Soon”.
But guess what, it’s been over two months and there is absolutely no update on the series. It’s as if everyone has forgotten about the series and it does not exist at all.
The series is expected to revolve around a doctor famously called Dr.Arora who treats people for their sexual problems. The stigma around sexual problems is well-known in Indian society and thus the show could bring some highly comic stories with some lessons.
Looking at the teaser, it was evident that the series had completed significant filming. Normally such teasers are dropped after the filming is completed. Because it’s not a film like Atlee which needs a teaser for announcement. So there is a clear lack of consistency and, it is not going to benefit SonyLIV in any possible manner.
They must keep their fans updated with developments just like Netflix India does. It creates a sort of buzz and does not let people forget that a series of such a name is currently in development.
Sadly, these small things act as a big hindrance for SonyLIV as they are not in the top contenders even after delivering probably the most innovative content.
Thus this is not just about Dr. Arora, it is about the overall behaviour of SonyLIV which is more harmful to them than the usual cinephiles.
