The cast of Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming project, Oppenheimer, is growing with every passing day. Netflix’s Stranger Things fame Matthew Modine and The Suicide Squad fame David Dastmalchian were the latest additions to the cast before Josh Peck‘s arrival.
It seems like Nolan is hiring as many talented performers as he can for his highly-anticipated biographical thriller. We have Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, David Dastmalchian, Kenneth Branagh, and many more actors in the movie’s cast so far. The acclaimed filmmaker has taken inspiration from the novel, American Prometheus by Martin J. Sherwin and Kai Bird, for penning down the script for the film. Apart from him, his wife, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven are serving as producers as part of Syncopy Inc.
The film’s plot will revolve mainly around the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer and his contribution to the Manhattan Project (1942-1946). This project is held responsible for the discovery of the Atomic Bomb. Universal Pictures is handling the movie’s distribution this time. Nolan’s long time partner studio, Warner Bros, was gearing up for Oppenheimer’s simultaneous release on the HBO Max streaming platform and in theatres. But the helmer was not ready for it.
Oppenheimer’s estimated budget is $100 million. And Variety has declared that the movie needs to earn at least $400 million theatrically to turn itself into a profitable deal, considering its main budget and other marketing costs. The upcoming Christopher Nolan directional will also dispatch in selected IMAX theatres. It is scheduled to come out on July 21 next year. Stay tuned for more updates.
