DreamWorks Animation Confirms Shrek 5 Development

The world of animation is booming, and this was the right time for DreamWorks Animation to strike while the iron is hot. The studio has officially announced that they are working on Shrek 5.

It has been confirmed that Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz will be returning to their previous roles. But the updates don’t stop there.

Walt Dohrn is set to direct the newest installment of Shrek. Walt already has prior experience with the franchise, having worked as a writer and artist on previous films.

“We started doing [‘Shrek 5’] months ago,” Murphy told an entertainment website. “I did this. I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up. ‘Shrek’ is coming out, and Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do Donkey as well. So we’re gonna do a ‘Shrek,’ and we’re doing a Donkey [movie].”

After the release of Inside Out 2, the audience rediscovered their love for animation. For an established franchise such as Shrek, the fifth installment is bound to be successful.

We also have a release date for Shrek 5, which is targeting a July 1, 2026 release. Though the wait of two years might backfire, if executed correctly, we will have a brilliant movie in two years.
